It does not cause colorectal cancer or inflammation in the intestine. Simple management of the daily stress and diet, along with lifestyle proves beneficial in overcoming the condition.

Fiber in the diet is a boon and a bane. It helps to relive constipation, though aggravating the flatulence. Increase fiber containing foods, such as, fruits, vegetables, whole grains and beans in a gradual manner. Increase the intake of water to provide relief form gas, constipation and bloating. Avoid all foods that worsen the symptoms. Chocolates, sweeteners, alcohol caffeinated beverages, fizzy drinks and dairy products are some of them. Foods such as broccoli, cabbage, beans and cauliflower are avoided in case of gas. Gas increases with use of straws in drinks or by chewing gum.
