Diarrhea Diet And Foods To Treat Diarrhea

High Protein Diarrhea Diet For Chronic Diarrhea Treatment

What is the healthy diet for diarrhea. What kind of food is recommended if one constantly suffers from diarrhea several times a month?

It seems you have chronic diarrhea. You need to consult a doctor about this because it may mean you have a severe food allergy or even a serious digestive problem like irritable bowel syndrome or colitis. The sooner you get the problem treated the better, because it can cause you dehydration and loss of essential compounds such as vitamins, proteins and carbohydrates from the body. Chronic diarrhea also increases the risk of developing piles, also known as hemorrhoids.

Diet For Treating Diarrhea

Dehydration is however the main danger, and also the most immediate one. Keep yourself hydrated all the time, by consuming as many fluids as possible. You must drink at least two liters of water every day and avoid aerated water because the gas will worsen your condition. You must also increase your intake of proteins and carbohydrates, as your body is probably not absorbing these nutrients in sufficient quantities.

Diarrhea is a problem of the digestive system and is often caused by bacterial infections. Buttermilk is one product that is effective in curing various bowel troubles as it fights bacteria. Drink buttermilk with a pinch of salt three or four times a day to control loose stools. You should also consume carrot soup in small amounts every 30 minutes, when you have a severe case of diarrhea. Carrot soup is beneficial as it hydrates the body, and also restores the sodium, potassium, phosphorus, calcium, sulphur, and magnesium that the body loses because of diarrhea.

Apart from providing the nutrients, it also curbs the growth of harmful bacteria and protects the intestine by alleviating inflammation. You can make the soup by cooking half a kilogram of carrots in 150 ml of water till they become pulpy. Strain the pulp, add boiled water to make a liter of soup, and add ¾ tablespoon of salt. You can also consume bananas along with curd to treat loose stools. Not only will it control the watery stools but also provide your body with iron, calcium, and potassium. Also include starch in your diet, like rice gruel, pasta, barley water, coconut water, and arrowroot water.

To treat any kind of intestinal malady, you must consume as much of fresh vegetables and fruits as is possible, especially food with rich fiber content because fiber improves the functioning of the intestines. Restrict your intake of caffeine and fat, as they cause cramps in the intestines. Eat your food in small portions instead of one heavy meal. If you are by any chance on laxatives, stop taking them immediately.
