ADHD Home Remedies For Attention Deficit Disorder

Is ADHD a serious Disease? Is it curable? What are the herbal remedies for recovery from ADHD. Also suggest ADHD diet

ADHD or attention deficit hyperactivity disorder is not a serious disease in the sense of being life threatening, but it can have rather severe implications on the individual’s ability to function normally. The condition is what is known as a “neurobehavioural developmental disorder”, and typically causes symptoms of impulsiveness, hyperactivity, and inattention. People with ADHD tend to find it difficult to concentrate on a single task or conversation, or even organize their activities, they also tend to act impulsively and without thinking of the consequences, are easily distracted, and often leave tasks unfinished. In addition, there is often a lot of restlessness, and even sleep tends to be restless.

Treating ADHD With Herbal Medications

ADHD cannot really be cured completely, but the condition can be managed by using medications and other treatment options such as behavioral therapy, psychotherapy, and so on. The medications used are mostly stimulants, many of which are amphetamine based. These medications are extremely effective, but as of now not enough research has been done on the effects of long term use. These of course should not be taken without medical supervision – your doctor will prescribe a suitable medication and dosage for you.

As far as I know there are no herbal remedies for ADHD. The only treatment option that could be considered herbal is medical cannabis. Most people who use this form of treatment self medicate, primarily because it is cheaper than prescribed medications. However, medical professionals too prescribe this treatment occasionally.

As far as diet is concerned, this is another area in which more research needs to be done, but there are rather clear indications that diet does have an effect on ADHD. Certain deficiencies seem to be connected with ADHD, and so increasing the intake of these foods seems to be beneficial in managing the disorder. The main focus of an ADHD diet should be omega 3 fatty acids – these are available from a variety of food sources including flax seed (also known as linseed), walnuts, cold water oily fish such as sardines, mackerel, and sardines, and krill. You should ensure that you consume these foods on a regular basis; at the same time, you should of course not go overboard with these foods, as this too will be harmful. It has been noticed that deficiencies of iron, magnesium, and potassium, as well as vitamin B6 are associated with ADHD, but it is not yet clear whether consuming these minerals and vitamins will help in managing the condition.
