Safe Effective Weight Loss

Crash dieting is not recommended for a safe effective weight loss. It involves continuous fasting for at least 12 hours, without drinking any liquids. This results in burning of the extra fat, thereby resulting in weight loss, in course of time. This is not a healthy technique, and long term use results in nutrient deficiencies. It is nothing but fasting.

A healthy diet and regular exercise is a better alternative.

Cereals, pulses, legumes, fruits, vegetables and animal foods with limited oil are useful. Saturated fats are replaced by polyunsaturated fats. Animal foods such as poultry without skin, fish, egg and lean meat are good sources of protein. Red meat is avoided. Refined oil, such as sunflower oil is used in combination with gingelly, olive or groundnut oil is used in combination, in a restricted manner. This helps in providing the mutually deficient essential fatty acids.

Exercise done in a regular manner is equally effective. Walking in a brisk manner is one of the easiest cardio exercises. Weight training is also helpful, as muscle formation is enhanced. Diet pills and weight loss surgeries also exist in reducing the extra kilos, though they prove expensive. Side effects are also commonly seen to occur.
