Advice on Rice Diet

The Rice diet is considered to be effective in controlling diabetes, congestive heart failure, obesity, hypertension, renal and cardiac diseases. About 2 to 3 pounds are lost on following the diet on the initial day itself. This diet keeps you away from the pangs of hunger, as it is a starchy diet and the feeling of fullness is high. Restriction of salt and related foods is helpful. About 500 milligrams of sodium is required.

Processed and fatty foods are avoided. Sugar and salt restriction helps to a great extent in controlling weight. Rice diet calls for four strict guidelines, which are adherence to the rules, smart food choices, exercise and meditation and increased motivation.

The first week includes and skimmed dairy products. This is a week of detoxification and brown rice or any other starch is allowed on a daily basis. A serving of protein in the form of fish is allowed on the last day of the next phase. It is a week of weight loss phase and the guidelines remain the same. The last phase is the maintenance phase. A healthy weight is achieved and weight loss reduces. Fish and other lean protein are included twice a week. Cheese, nuts and tofu are good vegetarian alternatives. At least an hour of exercise is recommended every day. Workouts in a consistent and gradual manner are equally effective.
