Fruit Health Facts: When your body uses oxygen for its day-to-day activities, there are some free radicals released, which are harmful for the healthy cells in the body. The production of free radicals can get enhanced due to many factors such as illness, pollution, ageing, and poor nutrition. Fruits contain vitamins and minerals and are also rich in phytochemicals, which have antioxidant properties. So, the regular consumption of fruits help prevent and cure many health problems. Fruits do not have cholesterol. They are also low in sodium and fat and thus help in reducing the cholesterol levels in the body. Fruits are also rich in dietary fiber, vitamin C, and folic acid. Vitamin C is important for the growth and repair of body tissues. It helps heal cuts and wounds and keeps the teeth and gum healthy. Folic acid helps the body form red blood cells and prevent anemia. A diet rich in potassium helps maintain a healthy heart. Fruits rich in potassium include bananas, prunes, peaches, apricot, mulberry, and orange. Apricot contains the nutritients that can cure anemia, cancer, skin diseases, fevers, earache, indigestion and constipation. The health benefits of peaches includes asthma, kidney and bladder stones, high blood pressure, gastritis, anaemia, poor digestion, dry cough so try to incorporate peaches in daily diet as far as possible.

Nutritive Value of Fruits: Dietary fiber from fruits helps maintain blood pressure and lowers the risk of cardiovascular diseases. Fiber is also important for proper bowel function. Fruits are a good source of soluble fiber. One of the benefits of high fiber foods is that they make you feel full for quite a long time after consumption. Whole fruits are rich sources of fiber, but cut fruits and fruit juices have lesser amounts of fiber. Eating raw fruit is the best option. When you cut, peel, or deseed fruit, you lose out on many of the important nutrients that may be contained in the fruit rind or seed. Cut fruit also loses many nutrient salts and carbohydrates. The salts present in fruits have organic acids which produces alkaline carbonates. Thus, the regular consumption of raw fruits helps the body stay free of toxic wastes.

Never peel the fruits, as they lose their taste and many nutrients. The skin of a fruit is the place which is exposed to sunlight and forms a variety of colored pigments that absorb different wavelengths of light. They also have less nutrients and minerals as compared to whole fruit. Thus, it’s better to consume whole fruit rather than in any other form. Fruits which are whole, fresh, and raw are brimming with life and have the ability to give their life forces to you.
