Grape fruit Diet Plan
The Grapefruit diet, as the term suggests involves the eating of large quantities of grapefruits in order to step up the individual's metabolism. The Grapefruit diet plan is meant to be practiced for 12 days, and if exerted in the prescribed manner the individual is likely to lose around 10 pounds. The grapefruit is fruit devoid of any fats and extremely low in sodium and following this diet causes the body to burn up fat faster than normal. However studies have revealed that the loss of weight endured by the individual is usually caused by the loss of bodily fluids, and it is likely that the individuals will gain back the weight after he or she goes off the Grapefruit diet. This diet promotes short term weight loss due to the rapid los of fluids. A long-run loss of weight is not part of the dietary plan.
Unfortunately there are no scientific studies to prove or substantiate the claims of weight loss caused by eating grapefruit. Although grapefruit is a highly nourishing fruit laden with vitamin C and fiber, the fruit in itself does not cause fats to burn. The low sugar in the fruit, high fiber content, and negligible calories of the grapefruit is likely to cut down insulin stages and help dieters feel satisfied with lesser calories. Apart from that there seems to be no additional 'powers' at work with the Grapefruit Diet.
