Low Calorie Cookies

Dr. Sanford Siegal's diet cookies, shakes and nutritional supplements under the brand name of "Dr. Siegal's Cookie Diet" is basically a low-calorie diet. Being low in carbohydrates, the diet provides approximately 800-900 calories per day. These hunger controlling foods contain a combination of food proteins that control and suppress the appetite without drugs. The cookies, though not very delicious, are available in chocolate, raisin and coconut flavors.

To curb hunger, dieters are recommended to have six cookies during the whole day, along-with eight glasses of liquid. Breakfast or lunch is not permitted. Only one meal is to be consumed – dinner, which should consist of lean meat or fish and 1 cup of vegetables.

The diet, besides providing very few calories to maintain health, is deficient in necessary vitamins, minerals and even fiber. It also lacks in sufficient fruits and vegetables essential for good health. Moreover, it has been alleged that dieters are put on appetite suppressants and some even on thyroid hormones just to increase their metabolism.

This quick-fix, calorie restricted Cookie diet is not meant to be followed for a prolonged period. Also as it only focuses on weight-loss, it should definitely not be considered as a replacement to a balanced diet.
