Causes and Treatment for Unexplained Weight Gain

There are instances when people gain weight despite of the same caloric intake and exercise everyday. This weight gain is unexplainable or natural weight gain. However if the weight tend to zoom upwards without any desired result, then it is advisable to consult a doctor.

People on crash diet or strict diet, the person tend to reduce the intake. Lower intake can result in lesser energy to carry out metabolism in the body. Lower metabolism can lead to storage of excess energy.

Sometimes weight is gained rapidly within the fortnight. This occurs due to water retention the can occur due to intake of too much of sodium. Water that has been retained by the body cannot be removed immediately. It takes time to lose weight.

During winter seasons our body prepares itself for insulation leading to extra padding of adipose tissue under the subcutaneous layer thus protecting the body from the shocks of cold.

Deprivation of sleep leads to hormonal changes that can increase the weight. Less f sleep leads to more of snacking during the night thus leading to weight gain.

Pregnancy and lactation can lead to weight gain in women. The formation of placenta, umbilical chord and amniotic fluid required to protect the fetus during pregnancy can increase the weight of the would be mother. Lactating mothers tend to deposit fat in the body during breastfeeding period.

Maintain a healthy diet plan which includes all the nutrients in proper amounts. Weight gain due to water retention can be reduced if the sodium intake is reduced. Avoid salty foods.
