Is this of any use protein diet. How will this help?

Advice on Protein Diet

A diet rich in protein is recommended for people interested in muscle mass or for those who want to lose fat. About 0.6 to 1.5 grams of protein (per pound of body weight) are considered on a daily basis. Kidney problems and associated disorders are worsened by a high protein diet. Individuals with renal problems are not recommended a high protein diet. Research is underway regarding the relation with hepatic encephalopathy.


Oligospermia or low sperm counts seem to benefit from a high protein diet. Generally, high protein foods are low in saturated fats and carbohydrates. This helps in reduction of the extra pounds. Lean meat, turkey, beef, egg whites, chicken and fish are good sources of protein.

High protein supplements in the form of powders or bars are preferred in cases requiring the same. Take the guidance of a physician, before consuming the same. Meals, once in three hours prove beneficial. About 12 per cent calories are provided by protein form the diet, though in a high protein diet, about, 34 per cent of the calories are from proteins. High protein increases the water loss by increasing the uric acid content. Increased amount of water is pumped into the kidneys. Kidney stones are associated with increased protein in the diet.
