Binge Eating Disorder
Eating disorders have become very common in today’s world; there are some people who almost starve themselves, when they suffer from eating disorders like anorexia or bulimia nervosa. However, there is one eating disorder known as Binge Eating Disorder, which evokes the opposite effect in a person. What is binge eating disorder? Binge eating disorder can be described as a very serious eating problem in which a person ends up consuming an unusually large amount of food, during the day. Some of the health experts refer to binge eating disorder as compulsive overeating. On its own, overeating is not every uncommon once is a while, as almost everyone tends to indulge in an extra helping or two on certain occasions.

Some of the common symptoms of binge eating disorders include: • Eating an unusually large amount of food • Continuing to eat, even after being full • Trying to go on a diet frequently, without any success • Feeling guilty after eating • Consuming food at a very fast pace • Depression • Having most meals alone out of preference • Anxiety • Obesity or rapid weight gain Binge eating disorder treatment The treatment of binge eating disorder is aimed at reducing and controlling binge attacks, by increasing emotional wellbeing. Hence, several motions and psychological factors need to be addressed in order to treat binge disorder successfully. There are four main approaches that can be used in order to do that, which include: • Psychotherapy • Medication • Behavioral programs on weight loss • Self help strategies The treatment for binge eating disorder is subjective and could have varying results. Since there is no definite way to stop binge eating disorder, a combination of all the options may work best. Unfortunately, not all people take binge eating disorders seriously. However, if left untreated, this disorder could lead to several health problems, some of which could be life threatening.
