Advice on Weight Gain
Healthy weight gain can be easily achieved by increasing calories in your diet and exercise. Different people want to gain a healthy weight for different reasons like some people are too skinny and want to look better by gaining weight; some might want to gain weight to recover soon from an injury and athletes might want to gain more weight and muscle mass so they can perform well in an event. To gain weight eating high calorie foods alone is not important, what is more important is the portion size. Increase about 500 calories in the diet by consuming large portions of energy dense but healthy foods like whole cereals, beans, sprouts, eggs, nuts and oilseeds, poultry, fish, lean meat, and dairy products. Eat divided meals at frequent intervals, include energy dense snacks. Healthy fats should be consumed, although fats proportion needs to be increased when you want to gain weight focusing on quality of fat will help over all health. Saturated fats in red meat, organ meats, skin of poultry, milk cream, butter, processed fried snacks, sausages and bacon can increase your blood cholesterol and other harmful blood lipids. Mild exercise can be done to increase muscle mass and decrease fat content in the body, also exercise will help to increase appetite and so you can eat well.
