Carbs Food Benefits 

Carbs foods are the ones which provide significant amounts of carbohydrates. Such foods include whole grains, whole cereals and their products like wheat pastas, whole wheat breads, pulses, legumes, fruits, vegetables, refined products and table sugar. All these foods would provide equal amount of energy that is 4 calories per gram but the quality is more important. For instance whole cereals grains and its products, pulses, legumes and vegetables all come under the group of complex carbohydrates. But refined products, simple sugars, sodas and fruits comes under simple carbohydrates.


It becomes important when it comes to choosing good foods with good carbs. Simple carbohydrates should not be preferred simply because the refining process takes away most of the nutrients and finer from these products and just give empty calories. These foods also have high amounts of preservatives, coloring agents and additives which can cause negative health effects. Choose foods which provide complex carbohydrates as they are digested gradually and gradually release glucose to the body which avoids dangerous glucose and insulin spikes (which are caused when simple carbohydrate foods are selected). Also complex carbohydrates are healthier as they provide other vitamins and minerals and fiber which have a long list of health benefits.
