Information on Carbohydrates Diet

Carb diet or carbohydrate diet can be of different types like high carbohydrate diet, low carbohydrate diet or specific carbohydrate diet. Low carbohydrate diet however is more commonly followed by many people who want to lose weight. Common examples of famous low carbohydrate diets include Dr. Atkins diet and south beach diet. A low carbohydrate diet often restricts the consumption of carbohydrate to a severe extent and prefers sources of proteins and fats as a prime source of energy. It becomes practically impossible for most of the people following a low carbohydrate diet to stay away form carbohydrate foods for a long period of time. As soon as a person comes back to his normal routine and lifestyle and starts consuming normal diet then he would realize how fast he is gaining the lost weight back.

High carbohydrate diet is also followed by most of the people to lose weight where in they restrict the other two micronutrients that is fats and proteins. However this diet is more common among athletes who have to do carbohydrate loading prior an event to ensure optimum glycogen stores while performing during an event. Specific carbohydrate diet involves strict restriction of sucrose, lactose and complex carbohydrates to ensure a quick recovery in patients suffering from ulcerative colitis or irritable bowel syndrome.
