Overweight And Obesity Tips

Overweight and obesity are two terms which often overlap and are used to denote excess body weight which is a common factor in both the terms. An overweight person is not always obese but an obese person is definitely always overweight this is because the extra weight in an overweight person can be sometimes due to muscle mass, body water or bones along with the fat mass but in an obese person fat percentage is only accountable for excess weight. A person lies in which category can be determined effectively using different formulas and tools like BMI calculators, body fat calculators like calipers and charts. Overweight and obesity puts a person at a risk of various diseases, in fact obesity is considered a disease itself in the modern medicine. Some of these diseases are diabetes, ischemic heart diseases, angina, atherosclerosis, high cholesterol levels, high blood pressure, respiratory diseases; joint problems especially knee joints as they cannot carry extra body weight and psychological problems.

An overweight or obese person is sure to have depression and low self-esteem at on point or the other in life. It is important to follow some lifestyle modifications like making healthy dietary changes and including regular physical activity to decrease the incidence of obesity and in turn other associated problems.
