A healthy breakfast is usually the best way to start your day, and it is commonly known that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. For a person of any age, or any gender, a healthy breakfast ensures that you have the energy to sustain yourself through the entire day and engage in various activities.

Healthy breakfast items in the morning are extremely important because the metabolism is the fastest in the morning, and the nutrients you consume at this time are absorbed most readily. The importance of a healthy breakfast cannot be asserted enough as it also has a lot of cultural significance. If you regularly have a healthy breakfast in the morning, you set a good example for the rest of the family, especially children who need to have the right kind of nutrition to sustain the growth and development of their body.


After a night of rest, the body’s metabolism is completely refreshed, and eating healthy breakfast items can help you give the energy that you need to participate in physical activities. When you skip breakfast and go to school or work on an empty stomach, you tend to feel irritated, tired, and restless. A lot of people find it difficult to concentrate on the tasks of the day, especially when they haven’t had much to eat. Pancakes are simply carbohydrates, sausages and bacon have high fat content, and syrup is high in sugar. All these things can spike you up temporarily, but soon your energy levels will drop as soon as the effects of these energy dense foods wear out.

You can find a lot of cookbooks that offer healthy breakfast foods and breakfast recipes. A typical healthy breakfast item is that which gives you lots of energy and nutrients. A whole grain open face sandwich with salad and a glass of milk are excellent and easy breakfast ideas. These can be quickly and easily prepared and can keep you full till your next meal.

Breakfast is taken in the start of the day. It is a very important meal of the day and is mandatory to have the breakfast regularly. Breakfast if taken regularly can relieve the person from fatigue and will aid functioning of the body and proper thinking of the mind. It is very essential to have a nutritious breakfast for better efficiency and productivity.

About one third of our calories come from the breakfast. Just like our balanced diet, it is essential to bring a balance in breakfast in terms of proper amounts of nutrients. The breakfast should contain complex carbohydrates, fiber, protein, vitamins and minerals. Avoid high amounts of fat and simple sugar containing foods.

Certain items that are healthy for breakfast are:-

Omelettes made with egg white, whole grain breads, oatmeals, fruits. Add some amount of vegetables to enhance the nutrient content of the food.

Cooked rice cereals with milk and cinnamon, mixed cereals porridge with milk and honey and any seasonal fruits, apple oats cereals

Tofu French toast, Vanilla yoghurt French toast, Blue berry waffles topped with peanut butter and bananas

Sandwiches made with wheat bread and low fat spreads with vegetables, Semolina preparation with addition of vegetables, Wheat pancakes with yoghurt.

All the items can be consumed with milk, hot chocolate or fruit juices.
