To develop a healthy body, it is essential that you maintain a proper diet and exercise regularly. A diet and exercise plan is created by considering the amount of calories that you consume and the amount you burn. The main principle in a diet and exercise plan for weight loss is to burn a greater amount of calories than you consume. Studies have shown that combining diet and exercise produces more effective results relating to weight loss than diet or exercise by themselves.

Following a healthy diet is quite enjoyable and not as difficult as most people make it out to be.

Most individuals consider diet to be a certain period in which you restrict some foods till you reach your weight goal. It is not necessary for you to follow a specific restricted diet that doesn’t allow certain foods and involves an exact combination of foods each day. What usually happens is that people adhere to the proposed diet for a while and slowly slip back to their old ways, hence gaining back the lost weight. It will probably work better if you didn’t think of being off or on a particular diet. Instead you should choose the foods that you like based on the guidelines of a healthy and normal diet, and follow it throughout your life. Eating foods that are low in fat and including more of vegetables, fruits and grains will not only help you lose weight but will also help to keep you healthy.

Before you begin any diet and exercise program, make sure you consult your general physician or dietician for advice and to see that you are medically risk free. You can inquire as to the optimum level of exercise that would suit you and find out your ideal weight. You can achieve your ideal body image by working out in a gym or taking part in various sports like football and basketball. You could also consider exercises like walking, running, and even dancing. Walking is considered to be one of the most effective workouts for weight loss. The reason for this is that for fat to be burned, exercise should be performed at a lesser intensity and for a longer duration of time. When exercise is performed at an intense level the fuel that the body will use is that of carbohydrates and not fat. Using carbohydrates as a fuel is a more efficient way to meet the energy requirements. Therefore, walking seems to create the right conditions for fat to be burned, hence facilitating weight loss.

Diet and exercise and weight loss go hand-in-hand as your diet determines the calories you consume, and the exercise you indulge in determines the calories you burn. By striking a balance between the two, you will be able to maintain your weight, and by increasing one or the other, you can either gain or lose weight. Diet and exercise also has a significant impact on your mental state. Therefore, with the benefit of a healthy body you will also improve your general well-being, enabling you to function more efficiently in day-to-day life.
