Dandruff is basically a disease that has the scalp shedding huge amounts of dead skin cells. The exact reason for this disease is not extremely clear but it is very easy to acquire dandruff. However, it is also equally easy to get rid of dandruff. You just need to put in some extra effort while taking care of your hair.

The first thing to do is to increase your intake of onions. Onions are known to fight dandruff naturally. It is also advisable to apply freshly squeezed onion juice to your scalp and leave it on for at least three hours or till it dries out. This will chase away dandruff quite effectively. Although this is a smelly affair, it does indeed have the desired favorable results. Dandruff is also sometimes defined as excessive flaking or shedding of skin cells from the scalp. Since it is normal for skin cells to flake off, a small amount of flaking is perfectly fine. However, excessive flaking of the skin or dandruff is usually caused due to extreme dryness of the scalp. The first thing that you need to do is take care of this dryness. An increase in the consumption of oil and oil rich food will help to take care of this problem to a large extent. You can also topically apply oil your hair at least twice a week. Olive or castor oil is considered to be the best possible solution for this problem. You should apply the oil warm to your hair about two to three hours before you set about washing it. It is advisable to follow this regimen at least twice a week. If you do not wish to oil your hair so frequently, another alternative is to add a few drops of tea tree oil to your shampoo. Apart from conditioning your hair, the anti-fungal and anti-bacterial properties of tea tree oil will help to clear up the dandruff in a few weeks time.

Lime is also considered to be one of the natural fighters of dandruff. You should start drinking lime juice in suitably large quantities in order to get rid of dandruff. Alternatively, you can also apply fresh lime juice to your scalp. Leave this on for about an hour or till the scalp begins to itch. Then, you can rinse this off with plain cold water, thus leaving the juice to work in your hair without causing any damage.
