By following a special diet for diabetes one can control diabetes to a great extent. A diabetes diet plan can be followed alone or can be combined with insulin doses or some hypoglycemic drugs that can be taken orally. Also, by following a diabetes diet plan one can maintain an ideal body weight. This is done by providing nutrition that is adequate to maintain the required levels of blood sugar in the blood. Also, avoid carbohydrates at least 2 hours before going to bed. • Increase your consumption of vegetables and fresh fruit. It is important that a diet for diabetes be carefully followed. You have to be careful about the foods you eat as all food has some energy value as well as carbohydrates. The fat and protein contained in the food are transformed into glucose. This glucose affects the overall levels of blood sugar. However, being on a diet for diabetes does not mean that you have to eat food that is bland and boring. Instead, increase your intake of vegetables, fruits and whole grains. Also focus on selecting foods that have high nutritional value and are low as far as calories are concerned. A diet for type 2 diabetes combined with an exercise plan plays a very important role in the management of diabetes. To sum up, a diabetes diet mainly focuses on three things:
