Baby Food Diet

I have heard that the Baby Food Diet is extremely popular among Hollywood celebrities. I would like to know more on how this diet actually works. Can someone please let me know?

Baby Food Diet

The baby food diet or the super baby food diet is a diet where a grown adult consumes jars of baby food in place of regular meals and snacks. These jars are usually small as they contain enough nutrition for a couple of meals that a baby might consume. Instead, they are now being used by adults who wish to satisfy their craving for food but not put on weight. Many celebrities are adopting this type of diet plan in order to lose weight. There are many pros and cons to this sort of diet.

Diet foods and diet programs are now widely available. The choice of these programs is often confusing. Many diet foods are quite expensive as they are considered niche products. Baby food does not pose this problem. Because the food is full of natural and easily available ingredients, it tends to be relatively inexpensive when one compares it with other diet foods that often contain some special ingredients. Another advantage of the baby food diet for weight loss is the small portion of each serving. One often feels content after consuming a portion of food even if it is not sufficient to satiate the hunger. This is a psychological angle to food consumption which helps with the effectiveness of the baby food diet program. Another advantage of the baby food diet is that it usually contains naturally occurring products. This makes it quite healthy and free from additives and processed foods. However, one should be aware of the downsides of this diet. A portion of baby food is not sufficient for the nutritional requirements of an adult. This can leave the adult feeling weak and lacking energy. The human body requires a certain amount of nutrition for it to function normally. Starving the body of this nutrition is likely to have some serious consequences. Another downside to the diet is the lack of any strong flavor. Baby food is bland and this might leave the adult feeling like they have not really had a meal and o they may start to feel hungry very quickly. Binge eating is often a side effect of the baby food diet as the person develops an unhealthy craving for food.

This can worsen the effect of the diet because the body will suddenly be bombarded with a large quantity of food which may result in weight gain rather than weight loss. The baby food diet eliminates the need for lots of chewing as the food is soft and semi liquid. This may also result in a feeling of insufficient nutrition.

Healthy Meals for Infants

The Baby food diet is one of the recent diet fads to have hit tinsel town. By adhering to the Baby Food Diet, a dieter replaces all forms of adult meals with extremely soft foods that are mashed, bland or pureed in order to maintain a standard of food that is usually served to infants. On the one hand, the Baby food diet is termed as being extremely healthy and replete with vitamins while being free from any chemical additives or colors. The portions in the baby food diet, however, are extremely tiny and small but eventually help the dieter to get over hunger pans and the temptation to overeat. But the likelihood of bingeing on food, after the diet is though is a very high possibility. The diet has recently taken shape and as such there are no specific guidelines or rules on the kinds of foods to eat. But the diet works when the dieter sticks to eating only baby food throughout the day or till the duration of the diet. Some dieters on the other hand consume at least one adult meal during the day while eating only baby food as substitutes for adult meals.

There is no mention of exercise in addition to following the diet. Most dieticians are of the opinion that since this diet has been a recent trend, it is still early days to mention or add exercise as part of the dietary schedule. From a nutritional point of view the diet seems to have healthy connotations with the addition of plenty of fruits, vegetables and necessary nutrients for the body. However what is not known is how long the weight of the dieter will be maintained to an optimum level with the long term practice of this diet. Nutritionists are still in the process of studying the veracity of the baby food diet in addition to the long term implications.
