The pre-maintenance phase is designed to help the individual establish lifelong dietary habits. In this phase, 10 gram increases of carbohydrates are allowed in the Atkins diet menu, provided that weight loss is still occurring. Once an individual reaches the lifetime maintenance phase, he is expected to have attained a perfect balance and is able to make the correct dietary choices which will help him to maintain healthy weight. There are some advantages as well as disadvantages to the Atkins diet. The diet is well-known and followed by many individuals across the globe. It also promotes quick loss of weight. Another feature of this plan that appeals to many people is that Atkins diet foods can consist of an unlimited quantity of fatty and protein rich foods.
