Proportionate amount of other foodstuffs that are acceptable by a diabetic is noted. A low fat, moderate protein and moderate carbohydrate is suggested. Complex carbohydrates prove more beneficial in decreasing teh blood sugar levels. The intake of fibre is increased to 40 grams per day. Eating 4 to 5 meals is preferred. Avoid skipping meals. Eating at regular intervals in smaller amounts is effective in curbing blood glucose rise. Processed and fried foods are better avoided. Boiling, pressure cooking, microwave and steaming are preferred methods of cooking. Deep fat frying is not allowed. Starchy tubers are omitted.
