Foods For Hay Fever Treatment
April 19, 2011
Hay fever, also known as pollen allergy or oral allergy syndrome is caused when you breathe in pollen particles or when these particles get into your eyes. It doesn’t happen because of all pollen but only the ones you may be allergic to.
Know the Symptoms of Hay Fever
“How do I know if I have got
hay fever
?” This is a genuine question as the symptoms of hay fever are similar to those of a normal fever and in most cases, you may misinterpret the symptoms of hay fever as normal fever.
Here are the symptoms that you need to look out for:
• Repeated sneezing
• Runny nose
• Watery eyes
• Itchy eyes
• Itchy throat
• Lack of concentration
• Itchy palate and ears
• Feverish feeling
If the pollen count is high, it may also lead to wheezing.
Diet for Hay Fever
When you are suffering from hay fever, make sure that you keep your surroundings clean. A simple and oil-free diet is what will help you when you are suffering from hay fever.
Make sure you eat clean, healthy, and balanced food. Stay away from flour and flour products, sugar, salt, and dairy products like milk, yoghurt, cheese, butter, and so on. Make sure you include a lot of vitamin C in your diet in the form of oranges and citrus fruits as they help in combating the allergy.
Your diet should also include the juices of vegetables and fruits that help you heal.
Keeping yourself well hydrated is very important as dehydration may aggravate the problem. So drink filtered and clean water, preferably boiled to be on the safer side. Sipping on some herbal tea is also a good idea.
Include lot of protein rich food like eggs in your diet to help your body deal with the allergens better. Stay away from saturated fats as they will only add to your woes.
Do’s and Don’ts during Hay Fever
When you are suffering from hay fever, try not to venture out early in the morning or late in the evening as the pollen count is really high then and you will end up with more allergies.
It will not only increase the stuffiness of your nose but will also increase the discomfort.
Take ample rest and do not forget to take the anti-allergy medication that your doctor has prescribed. They will help you recover at lightning speed. Lastly, stay away from things and substances that you are allergic to.
