Garlic is a food which has immense medicinal qualities which can give relief and prevent many ailments. Blocked arteries, stomach cancer, blood pressure and cholesterol can all be relieved and the conditions improved with the consumption of garlic. Garlic is known to stop blood clot formation and also relieves the symptoms of arthritis. The known problems of consuming garlic are sometimes migraines especially if one s prone to them and a breath which people keep away from.

Calories in garlic are about 5 in a clove of garlic.


However, as garlic has a strong flavor it is used only in small quantities in dishes as the taste is bitter and too much of it would make the dish too pungent. Though garlic is used to enhance the flavor of dishes it is more popular for its health benefits.
 
Calories in garlic bread:
Calories in garlic bread are 53 in a small piece of bread.


This is because garlic bread has a lot of butter in it too and the combination of the garlic paste and butter make it so delicious. Though butter has a lot of fat in it the combination of garlic and butter makes the dish alright by way of healthy eating habits. Garlic lowers cholesterol in the system and also the formation of plaque in the arteries.


So eating garlic bread once in a while can be permitted provided this is not a regular part of the diet.

How many calories in garlic bread would depend on the kind of bread which is used to make this dish and also the amount of butter or cheese which has gone into it. Usually white bread is used for making garlic bread and this is seasoned with butter and cheese.


These are all high fat content foods and will raise the calories in the garlic bread.

If it is a no fat sauce then the calories will be low but a sauce normally has a lot of other ingredients including butter which makes it a high calorie dish. Garlic sauce is normally consumed along with meats and this makes the calorie content even higher in the complete dish.

There are nine calories in garlic powder which is of one teaspoon quantity. The taste of garlic powder differs to the taste of fresh garlic but the benefits of using it are almost the same as that of garlic. Garlic powder is often found to be easier to use than the fresh garlic which has to be peeled before use.

Calories in garlic chicken are approximately 280. This is a dish for about 5 people and when the calories are divided between them they do not seem to be too high. The garlic in the dish cuts down on the cholesterol from the fat used to cook it in or even if the chicken is a fatty one.
