Causes of Insomnia: Many people suffer from Insomnia at some time or the other in their lives. A person who suffers from this condition finds it difficult to fall asleep at night or may end up waking up all of a sudden in the middle of the night and won’t be able to go back too sleep. The reason why this happens may not always be very obvious. Some of the main causes of insomnia are; Depression and anxiety, change, noisy neighborhood, some physical aliment that causes a lot of pain or a medical condition like heart problems, arthritis and stomach problems, recreational drugs like cannabis, heroin, nicotine and prescription drugs like contraceptives.
Insomnia Diet: Many foods we eat could interfere with our sleep.
Foods such as chocolates, sweets, caffeine and alcohol should be avoided. If you find it difficult to fall asleep then make sure that you dinner includes carbohydrates and this should be had at least three to four hours before you go to bed. It is generally recommended to have light meals at night. If you wake up very often at night then a bowl or cereal or some honey and bread at bedtime helps.
A glass of warm milk always does the trick. Herbal tea is also considered to be very soothing and helps you sleep well. A warm drink such as hot water, lime juice with some honey in it or some hot red grape juice is also recommended.
Some other foods that clam you down are chicken, turkey and banana.
Vitamins for Insomnia: Vitamin B is important as it plays a vital role in treating insomnia. When your body does not get sufficient amount of this vitamin it finds it difficult to calm down and relax hence you can’t sleep.
This vitamin is found in foods such as whole grains, cereals, pulses and nuts. Lettuce has a particular ingredient in it that induces sleep. A decoction made of lettuce seeds is used and proved to be very helpful. All you need to do is boil a tablespoon of lettuce seeds in half a liter of water and keep it boiling till it reduces to one third. Another home remedy that has proven to be very helpful is massaging milk to the soles of your feet. A hot cup f tea made of aniseed sweetened with some honey should be had either after meals or before going to bed as it helps with sleeplessness. If you follow a well balanced diet with a few modifications it goes a long way in helping you treat Insomnia.
