Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince, and dinner like a pauper is a well-known saying. In order to understand why breakfast is so important, imagine yourself to be a car that has been idling for the entire night. The fuel tank has become empty and you need a refill. So breakfast is like the fuel that enters an empty fuel tank.

Foods to Eat for Breakfast: Breakfast is the most important meal of the day and you need to plan it well. Hence it is important to include the right food when it comes to breakfast.


Make sure your breakfast comprises of nutritious food like multi-grain bread, fortified cereals, fruits, and protein rich food like eggs. By combining them properly, you will stay full for longer and your mind will function properly and give you better ability to concentrate. Starting your day with an apple or any other fruit along with a protein shake is a good idea to get the proper fiber requirement.


If you eat your breakfast well, you will not end up overeating by indulging in intermediate refills.

After eating breakfast, do not forget to gulp down those glasses of water as it is equally important to stay hydrated too. This will help your body function smoothly throughout the day. Another healthy breakfast option is oatmeal.


Including some fruits and milk in oatmeal makes an ideal breakfast meal. Not only does it fulfill your body’s requirement for fiber but also provides you with vital nutrients like vitamins, proteins, minerals, and carbohydrates.

Try to stay away from red meat and food that have high fat levels as they will end up making you feel groggy throughout the day. A person who skips breakfast in an attempt to lose weight ends up gaining as you tend to overeat during the course of the day.


Adding dried fruits to your breakfast is a good idea if you are trying to increase your intake of iron. Instead of choosing fruit juices, eating raw whole fruits is a better idea as it helps in providing fiber to your body.

You can add fish to your breakfast if you so desire. However, try different fish each day like tuna or kipper. Fish is an excellent source of Omega 3 and combining it with a thin layer of low fat cheese with whole grain bread makes it a perfect breakfast meal. So the next time, before skipping breakfast, think twice.
