Diverticulitis is an affliction of the digestive system, particularly of the large intestine. Diverticulitis develops as a result of an inflammation of the diverticula. The major symptoms of diverticulitis are pain and inflammation in the lower abdomen, fever, diarrhea, vomiting, nausea and leukocytosis (elevation in the count of white blood cells).

The prime cause of diverticulitis is an improper diet and as such, you can relieve the affliction by resorting to a diet that is appropriate for your digestive machinery. You should consume a low residue diet while you are suffering from diverticulitis so as to reduce the bowel volume and thereby, the intensity of the affliction. Some of the diet tips to cure diverticulitis are as follows:

Eat plain cereals like corn flakes.

You are recommended to consume white rice, refined pasta, and noodles. Avoid the consumption of whole grains on account of their high fiber content.
